Annie Clark, or St Vincent, has shared information and an image about her own custom designed Ernie Ball Music Man guitar.
Clark is the fourth musician to have released a signature guitar with the company, following Albert lee, Steven Morse and John Petrucci.
Clark designed the guitar for comfort and practicality, noting that her design sits comfortably by her waist, the guitar's body accommodates for breasts, and that it is lightweight (just under 7 pounds/3.5kg.)
Speaking to Guitar World, she explained, "For me a guitar that is not too heavy is really important because I’m not a very big person. I can’t even play a Sixties Strat or Seventies Les Paul. I would need to travel with a chiropractor on tour in order to play those guitars. It’s not that those aren’t great guitars, but they render themselves impractical and unfunctional for a person like me because of their weight... They’re prohibitive, so this is a very light guitar and the weight is redistributed so that it has a thin waist."
The guitar apparently took around a week to create from its initial design. Clark debuted the prototype, while a finalized version will be available for public sales next month.
