Now that music streaming revenues surpassed the sale of physical formats in the U.S., which Statista explains, the pressure is on for companies to gain the most listeners.
To keep up with the competition, SoundCloud launched a new discovery feature today called Stations. This new feature allows users to play an endless mix based on songs of their choice, finding new music along the way. SoundCloud states, “Stations is a new way to discover the tracks you’ve never heard anywhere else, making it easy to tap into a long stream of music related to your Likes.”
While the announcement of this new feature is not groundbreaking, as music streaming competitors such as Pandora and Spotify already offer similar tools, the addition of Stations follows Apple’s recent decision to shut down their free ad-supported iTunes Radio. SoundCloud can only hope this helps grow their listener base as their list of features expands.
Stations is included in the latest SoundCloud update for iOS and Android.
