Smoke Season are set to drop their new EP, Ouroboros, tomorrow, four tracks affectionately described as "one part electronic beats, one part psychedelic soul, two parts whiskey under the Mojave Desert stars."
The LA-based duo made up of Jason Rosen and Gabrielle Wortman have been producing soulful, guitar-infused electronica since 2013, drawing influence from everyone from The XX to Tame Impala across three independently-released EPs. Now at their fourth release, Rosen revealed, “the songs on this newest EP really capture the heart and soul of who we are as artists in this moment.”
On the name Ouroboros, Wortmann explains, "One interpretation of the Ouroboros myth is that destruction is only temporary and we are reborn from the ruin.”
The release is to be accompanied by four video clips, one for each track, which were created by APLUSFILMZ, who have previously worked with Kendrick Lamar and Talib Kweli among others.
Meanwhile, check out the videos for "Loose" and "When The Smoke Clears" here, and keep an eye on Smoke Season's Youtube page for the remaining two videos to debut later this year. The EP release will be followed by a summer tour, as well as a vinyl release this coming June.
