It's always interesting to look at the careers some of our favourite musicians held before they were famous; Jack White was an upholsterer, Kanye West worked at Gap, David Bowie was a delivery boy for a local butcher. But what about post-fame careers? Tool's Maynard James Keenan owns a vineyard, while Killer Mike runs his own barbershop in Atlanta when he's not tearing the rap world to shreds with Run The Jewels.

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has taken his unique hobby to a brand new level. Back in August, it was reported that he had spread his love of tiny insects far beyond his own name, becoming an at-home beekeeper, and proud owner of nearly 200,000 bees.

Rolling Stone reported that the explanation for Flea's unique career change was twofold: not only does it satisfy his own love for the fuzzy little bugs, but the US bee population has been on a serious decline across the past few decades. His passion for conservation has now risen to a new level, with his apiary consisting of three separate hives, each boasting more than 60,000 bees.

Flea's buzzy activism went so far as to see him reunite with Thom Yorke as Atoms For Peace in Paris, for a climate change/sustainability summit "Pathway To Paris" last month. Watch them perform on French TV show Le Grand Journal:
