Porches frontman Aaron Maine recently visited the SiriusXM Studios to promote the band's new album Pools. During his visit, he layed down a cover of the song "Trying Your Luck" off of the classic Strokes album Is This It. The cover is much more rounded and polished than the original track, and allows for Porches to throw in some of its own sound. It was a good cover, but as a huge fan of The Strokes, I am biased towards the original version.

Make sure to listen to the original song...

...as well as Porches's rendition

During his interview with SiriusXM, Aaron Maine described the influence The Strokes had on his own sound: "[The Strokes] just came out at such a crazy formative part of my life. I had never heard anything like that. They just were so special to me, so responsible for me getting into music as much as I did. I even think melodically Julian [Casablancas] is there in my subconscious."

This cover comes after last month's announcement that The Strokes will be releasing a new single. If it's anything like "Trying Your Luck," or even the rest of Is This It, it's going to become yet another iconic release by the band.
