Drummer Patrick Carney, of Black Keys fame, put down his sticks and picked up a baseball to toss out the ceremonial first pitch for the Cleveland Indians' season opener at Progressive Field at the Northeastern Ohio's home stadium.

Carney (and The Black Keys) hail from nearby Akron, Ohio, making this baseball club as close to a hometown team as Carney would have.  According to Major League Baseball's website, of the honor (and challenge) Carney said:

I've been more into sports now than I [have been] since probably middle school.  It's fun.  It's hard for me to follow stuff when we've been on tour, but now with all the apps ... and things like that, it makes it much easier.

Despite last year's shoulder injury, Carney made an impressive pitch.

In an interview with a hometown paper, Carney said "I was nervous.  I am happy I just kept the ball in the air."  Carney isn't the only musician to have the honor of (probably) not getting the ball over home plate. Last year Jack White & rapper 50 Cent were among others to make the pitch, and this year the Chicago White Sox saw Chance the Rapper reprise his role from 2014 on the mound.

Since their massive Turn Blue world tour, The Black Keys have been quiet. The group's other half, Dan Auerbach has been busy with his band, The Arcs who have been touring and releasing music since late 2015.
