Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has reportedly become an investor in the Drone Racing League. Considering the band's recent album shared the title with the tech (Drones,) it's not exactly surprising - but it's interesting to see how far his passion stretched.
Drone racing is an up-and-coming spectator competition, in which pilots traverse obstacle courses with remotely controlled drones. Watching a drone racing event has been likened to real life Podracing, akin to that famous scene in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
Below is a drone’s-eye video of an obstacle course that was recently constructed within the Miami Dolphins stadium.
Nick Horbaczewski, the founder of the Drone Racing League, hopes to mimic the success of sports such as Formula One racing and NASCAR.
Matt Bellamy is easily the most famous person to invest in the league so far, and it is hoped that his involvement will help to create interest in the sport that is still in its infantile stage.
Muse are also currently on their Drones World Tour - you can check out dates, tickets and more at their official website.
