Comprised of Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser, MGMT have had a tumultuous career to say the least. The pair immediately shot to global fame with their 2007 debut Oracular Spectacular. An unbelievable debut release, itspawned three of the best electro-pop singles of the decade, if not all time, earning them a massive international fanbase and critical success. However, the release of 2010's Congratulations and 2013's MGMT were divisive at best, with the pair quickly farewelling their groundbreaking sound, giving way to a more experimental, psychedelic output.
It'll be interesting to see where MGMT take their sound in 2016. Will they opt for the anthemic nostalgia of "Kids" and "Time To Pretend", or will they push further down the experimental rabbit hole? Hopefully we'll find out soon.
