Remember the documentary about Amy Winehouse? The one that won this year's Oscar for Best Documentary, rising above other entries including the Nina Simone documentary entitled What Happened Miss Simone? as well as Winter on Fire: Ukraine's Fight for Freedom?
Well, the creative team behind Amy announced last year that another project was in the works, and this time, it's about Oasis. Mat Whitecross bumps up the creative ranks as the director, teaming up with Amy producer and director James Gray Rees and Asif Kapadia as the feature film's prod team.
This biopic finally lands an official name, plus a teaser artwork that is now out in the open. The film's title is inspired by the band's single "Supersonic" from their 1994 album Definitely Maybe. The film is scheduled for release some time in October in UK theaters via Lorton Distribution. The biopic's claim to fame is its revival of the Oasis archive, featuring exclusive candid scenes of the band's musical and personal shenanigans.
Here's what they're showing the world so far:
After seeing an early version of the film, Liam Gallagher tweeted this:
Just seen the 1st cut of the OASIS film BIBLICAL what ever happened to my ROCKNROLL LG x
The band unfortunately split up in 2009, although rumors of a potential reunion have been circulating ever since. Who knows, maybe seeing this feature film would remind them of the good ol' times and inspire a comeback.
