The progenitors of trip hop have taken center stage in 2016 with their first release since 2010's Heligoland, a European headlining tour, a reunion with founding member Tricky and now they're set to headline opening night for the British Summertime Hyde Park Festival. The festival, now in its fourth year, debuted with the Rolling Stones in 2013. "The line-up for 2016 just keeps on getting better," said Head of Events Alun Mainwaring.
Massive Attack surprised fans by dropping an EP ahead of schedule with plans for more to come, alongside videos for the tracks "Take it There," featuring founding member Tricky, and "Voodoo in My Blood," featuring Scottish hip-hop group Young Fathers.
Massive Attack will headline Friday July 1st with Patti Smith, TV on the Radio, Ghostpoet and Warpaint to support. The following night Hyde Park will host Kendrick Lamar, Jamie XX and Florence and the Machine. Sounds like a great way to kick off your summer, if you can make it to London of course.
