Diplo's EDM-meets-Caribbean supergroup, Major Lazer, performed in front of an unprecedented 450,000 fans Sunday night, in what was the first show for a major American pop act in Cuba since the reinstatement of diplomatic relations in 2014. The free concert took place at the waterfront José Martí Anti-Imperialist Platform, symbolically located directly in front of the new United States Embassy.
With tropical inflected bass pumping through the energized crowd of close to half a million, Diplo and friends truly brought the party to what was a monumental night. This performance comes on the heels of a massive 2015 for Major Lazer, which scored a runaway hit with the DJ Snake and MØ assisted "Lean On," and embarked on another hugely successful Mad Decent Block Party run.

The mostly teenage crowd was purportedly euphoric in the face of the undeniable energy of the set, and at the prospect of a mutually beneficial future for both the US and Cuba.
Let's hope that this only continues to lead to further good times in the future, and say thanks for the one thing that truly unites us all, good music.
