After months of tantalizing hints and news of new band members and tour dates, fans of the French electro-pop band M83 have a new album to look forward to this April. Titled Junk, it's set to be released April 8th through their record label, Mute. In accordance with the announcement, M83 has also released their new single, "Do It, Try It." Check out the video for it below.
Since the release of 2011's Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, M83 has been busy touring as well as crafting a song for 2014's blockbuster movie, "Divergent", which you can hear here.
Last year in December, Anthony Gonzalez, the mastermind behind the Grammy-nominated band, revealed to Entertainment Weekly the thoughts surrounding the new album.
“It’s a very strong album with a lot of eclecticism,” Gonzalez tells EW. “It’s very epic. There’s a lot of different genres that are not supposed to live together but I tried to make them live together, which is quite challenging. It’s also quite different from the previous albums which is what I’m the most proud of.”
Gonzalez also revealed the inspirations behind the making of Junk. “Shows like Punky Brewster and Who’s the Boss,” he says. “I feel like TV shows are starting to sound and look the same. There’s no more passion anymore. So this album is a tribute to those old-fashioned shows.”
