English producer Matt Cutler, known to the world as Lone, has announced his seventh album Levitate and shared the song "Vapour Trail."
Cutler has had a prolific production career that includes six, soon to be seven albums, and eight EPs. Throughout his career as Lone, Cutler has experimented with and twisted his sound from abstract hip-hop to the more dance oriented beats of 2010's Emerald Fantasy Tracks and 2012's Galaxy Guardian and back again to the mellow beats of 2014's Reality Testing.
According to Cutler the new album marks another new venture in experimentation. During a bed ridden, sleepless stint between tours, Cutler says the new material just came to him and kept him up at night. Cutler elaborated for Fact Magazine:
I’d try to go to sleep and I’d be hearing these mad rave tunes form in my head. When I recovered I was left with all these ideas for fast, feverish tunes.
But Levitate really cemented itself in Cutler's mind after a trip to L.A.
Following that we went to LA and hung out with friends, driving round all day in the baking sun playing these jungle and hardcore edits – all the best bits from rare jungle tunes, spliced together…there was something that really seemed to fit hearing these ridiculously energetic tracks whilst speeding around LA under perfect blue skies, that was amazingly similar to the music I’d been dreaming up whilst in New York…After making a record as mellow as Reality Testing it was important to me to not repeat myself – I wanted it to be an intense blast.
No news on a release date yet other than the ever-mysterious "Coming Soon." Listen to "Vapour Trails," below.
