Legendary R&B/hip-hop producer Timbaland has undertaken a remarkably unique new project: producing a brand new version of the famed theme song from political comedy series The Daily Show, now hosted by Trevor Noah.
Noah took over from the show's long-running host Jon Stewart last year. Up until now, Noah's theme song has been the same as that of his predecessor Jon Stewart, but the show's music has been something of a right of passage for its previous presenters. Titled "Dog On Fire", the track was originally performed by Bob Mould (Husker Du, Sugar) when hosted by Craig Kilborn at its launch in 1996, and They Might Be Giants re-recorded the theme when Jon Stewart took over in 1999.
Now, Timbaland has given the theme song a much needed update, a symbolic inauguration for the third incarnation of The Daily Show. Listen to the newest incarnation of "Dog On Fire" here:
Noah has also stated that music will be a more prominent feature on the show, with more musical guests appearing throughout its forthcoming series.
Timbaland has served as music producer for hit hip-hop TV drama Empire since its premiere in January 2015. He also released long-awaited mixtape King Stays King, on Christmas Day 2015 - listen here.
