Seasoned Grime MC Kano stopped by BBC 1xtra today with a new album in tow and an abundance of bars, going off the top for almost 11 minutes for Charlie Sloth's Fire In The Booth. The native Londoner seemingly has an endless supply of hot lines, running through the entirety of his freestyle in one take, scarcely leaving space for a breath between rapid fire lyrics.
Kano peppers the mic with pointed barbs and the hard-earned wisdom of a veteran, reasserting himself as one of the nicest MC's in any country. His first album in five years, Made In The Manor, just dropped on the 4th, and is undoubtedly worthy of your ear and a little bit of your time.
This Grime ting is right on the verge of exploding stateside, so hop on the wave before it crests, and have eternal bragging rights amongst your friends. I know the word legend gets thrown around a little too liberally these days, but this freestyle is the stuff of legend, and Kano is more than deserving of the title.
I don't think we'll see this performance topped anytime soon, and for lack of a better word the Fire In The Booth mic should be "Shutdown" until further notice, word to Skepta.
