There's a lot to like about Australia's Alex Sholler, aka Alison Wonderland.  And not only is she a skilled DJ/Producer, she was initially trained as a classical cellist, which adds to her uniqueness.  She left home as a teenager to be a professional cellist, and at times practicing 14 hours a day to fulfill that dream.  In addition to taking pride as a musician, the involvement she has in her albums seem to exceed that of the norm, being credited as a writer, vocalist, and producer.  In other words, she's not just a puppet, and is a real deal (Holyfield) artist looking to stake her claim in the electronic industry.

While Alison Wonderland started to get traction back in 2014 with her Calm Down EP, it wasn't until her first studio album in 2015, Run, where I think she really started to take off.  Her trap heavy style with vibrant and melodic hooks, taking her track "I Want You" for example, have launched her into the current spotlight shes in.  When you're gaining praise from Annie Mac and Diplo, accumulating millions of plays on Spotify and SoundCloud, selling out your first tour, and playing Coachella, then I think you must be doing something right.

I recently caught the last show of her U.S. tour, which was in San Francisco, and it was just as I expected --  amazing.  I was anticipating energy from the crowd, but honestly I think it was a contagious vibe that was delivered directly from Sholler.  If you've never seen Bassnectar live, then disregard this analogy, but the energy she gives during her set is that of something Bassnectar would give.  Basically, she's owns the fucking stage and gets the crowd right where it should be.

All-in-all, look to see and hear more from this great artist in the days to come.

Check out her website http://alisonwonderland.com.au/ for future shows, and to listing to her new album Run, you can listen to that here via Spotify.
