I'm honestly not familiar with many artists coming from Estonia, but if Ingrid Lukas has just changed that. She is readying her new album We Are, set to come out on June 24 through Ronin Rhythm Records.
Lukas has been nominated for Best Female Artist award at the Estonian Music Awards, and even performed at the 2012 Olympic Games. With a sound that blends influences likes Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Fever Ray and Bjork with a more traditional Estonian sound, it is ethereal and unique to say the least.
Born in the country's capital Tallinn, she began playing piano from a young age, before venturing into the worlds of jazz and pop singing. From there, she began to develop her own original sound, first officially forming the solo project Ingrid Lukas back in 2008.
Listen to the title track here and check out the track list below. It's a really cool sound, and the album is no doubt set to be interesting, expansive and totally engaging.
