In one of the most exciting, and downright cool collaborations in recent memory, rock fans were elated to learn that the godfather of punk, Iggy Pop, had teamed up with QOTSA/Eagles of Death Metal legend Josh Homme, to release a brand new joint album titled Post Pop Depression.
Receiving its surprise world premiere on Late Night With Stephen Colbert, the pair delivered "Gardenia," easily my favorite rock song of 2016 so far, with their next single "Break Into Your Heart" a close second.
The pair have now announced a US and European tour, spanning 20 dates between March 28 and May 15, where the tour will conclude in Paris. Joining Homme and Pop as touring musicians will be QOTSA's Dean Fertita and Troy Van Leeuwin on guitars/keys and guitars respectively, Matt Sweeney on bass, and Arctic Monkeys' Matt Helders on drums. Headers and Fertita were both involved in recording the album too.
Iggy Pop die-hards will be excited to find out that Pop revealed he'll be performing tracks from his legendary 1977 album Lust For Life. Homme has recently stated thatPost Pop Depression was a kind of sequel to the beloved album.
Post Pop Depression comes out on March 18th via via Rekords Rekords/Loma Vista.
