Fleet Foxes frontman, Robin Pecknold, debuted new solo music during his stint as opening act for Joanna Newsom’s European tour. Although they don’t represent a new Fleet Foxes project, the untitled tracks do serve as the first material to surface from Pecknold since the band announced a hiatus in 2014. Their last album, Helplessness Blues, came out in 2011.
In a previous Facebook post, the indie-folk singer informed fans he would be taking time off to return to university in New York. But despite putting a pause to Fleet Foxes, Pecknold vowed to continue working on new songs, remaining “excited for whatever happens next musically, even if it's down the line.” And down-the-line has seems to have arrived.
Robin Pecknold is currently on the road with Joanna Newsom as support for a string of European and American shows. Attendees can catch an “all-new solo set”, including those from the fan footages of his Netherlands performance:
