It's safe to say that Views From the 6 is one of the most hotly anticipated albums of 2016. Hype has been building for Views From the 6 slowly and surely for a long time. But less than a day before its release Drake has decided that Views From the 6 is way too long. Three too many words too long in fact. It's simply titled Views now.
While the title change is pretty minor compared to some of the other last minute changes we've seen on hip-hop's biggest albums in the past (we're looking at you Kanye), it speaks to the kind of spontaneity afforded artists like Drake when they reach this level of stardom.
Last minute changes and surprise album drops are the kind of thing you can't afford to do when you're getting started. Only once you've built yourself directly into the hype machine, then you can go ahead and drop Untitled, Unmastered or surprise fans with entire albums, or continue to rework your album for weeks after release. Right?
Views premiers tonight on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show and releases tomorrow exclusively on iTunes. Check out the new trailer for Views that Drake posted this morning.
