Ah, Hollywood. You've given us Suicide Squad, finally, and done everything in your power to make this one a success -- in the Box Office that is. On the back of more than a year's worth of buildup, the movie was finally released this past week to mixed reviews.
However, the reviews -- mixed or not -- are not important to us here at Indie Shuffle as the soundtrack is. As mentioned above, the anticipation for this movie was LIT. Same can be said for the heavyweight line-up of artists pulled in to compile tracks for the blockbuster.
Featured throughout the movie were singles from, and including, Skrillex, Rick Ross, Action Bronson, Mark Ronson, Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys), Eminem, Grimes, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Imagine Dragons, twenty one pilots and more.
Could this be the most expensive soundtrack of all time? I doubt that, I'm sure a Danny Elfman score would trump this start studded handful of tracks. But you do have to wonder what the summation of these artists social following would amount to. Astronomical -- and that's Hollywood for you.
