For the first time in 45 years, David Gilmour will be performing in Pompeii, Italy, the site of Pink Floyd's legendary concert film, Live at Pompeii.

According to Reuters, Gilmour's performance will likely take place at the 2,000 seat Roman Amphitheater. The original Pink Floyd performance was filmed in the Amphitheater of Pompeii without an audience.

The performance dates are not yet listed on Gimour's official website, but earlier today the Italian Culture Minister Dario Franceschini tweeted, "Agreement reached. After 45 years David Gilmour will play again at Pompeii on July 7 and 8."

Pink Floyd's original performance was recorded over four days in October 1971 by Adrian Maben. A re-release of the film three years later featured footage of the band in the studio working on Dark Side of the Moon.

The 70-year-old Gilmour will also be embarking on a tour through North America and Europe beginning at the end of March.
