Crystal Castles's Ethan Kath has announced a new album coming this spring, alongside a set of US tour dates this spring and summer.
The announcement comes after a heated split between producer Kath and former singer Alice Glass, who each shared some nasty words about one another last year. At one point, Kath tweeted, "people often gave [Glass] credit for my lyrics and that was fine, I didn't care." Glass responded, "Manipulative statements about my contributions to the band only reinforce the decision I made to move on to other things."
Last April, in an interview with Pitchfork, Kath was asked to explain the contention between himself and Glass. He quickly retracted his comments, explaining that "was making a point that my vision for CC was continuing... it came off as shade, I pulled it because I have no desire to throw any shade."
New tracks "Frail" and "Deicide" have since emerged, featuring a new singer, Edith Frances.
While the new material certainly still sounds like Crystal Castles thus far, we will have to wait until the new album comes in spring to know if the band's headed in the same direction. Listen to "Frail" and "Deicide" below.
