Melbourne rocker Courtney Barnett has won the Australian Music Prize, which is awarded annually to an Australian-born artist. Along with the honor, Barnett will be bringing home AUD$30,000.

She was given the award for her 2015 debut album, Sometimes I Sit and Think and Sometimes I Just Sit. Barnett bested shortlisted contenders Dan Kelly, Dick Diver, Gold Class, Jess Ribeiro, Methyl Ethel, My Disco, Royal Headache, Sarah Blasko, and Tame Impala. Former Black Flag frontman Henry Rollins presented Barnett with the award.

"I respect so many Australian artists so to be picked as the one that wins is pretty amazing," she told the audience, according to Triple J. "Plus, I've never had a novelty cheque before - I'm a bit nervous to hold it. One thing I like about this award, it's judged on the art and the music and it's not on sales or other boring shit like that; so thanks."

This marks the first time a solo female artist has taken home the AMP since Lisa Mitchell did so in 2009.

Barnett and her band will be tour throughout the world the next couple months and all of the tour dates can be found on here on her website.
