Electro-pop songstress Charli XCX took to Instagram last week to announce that she planned to finish recording her follow-up to 2014's Sucker in the following week. With a week come and gone and the untitled album complete, she continues to tantalize fans with details about the upcoming effort.
In an interview with i-D, she took a break from discussing her turn as the face of House of Holland's newest sunglasses campaign to answer a few questions.
Asked about the album, she says, "This album could change the sound of pop music. It's the album I've been trying to make forever. And now I've done it."
Charli's already proven she has what it takes to turn the pop music script on its head through True Romance's dark, mesmerizing synth-pop and Sucker's unabashed punk-pop anthems. Boasting collaborations with electronic provocateur SOPHIE, Bieber producer BloodPop, and best friend Noonie Bao, she's once again poised to redefine the genre.
