Bon Iver have returned to the stage for the first time since last year as they have kicked off on the band's new Asian tour.

Led by singer/songwriter Justin Vernon, Bon Iver have released two critically acclaimed albums in 2007’s For Emma, Forever Ago and 2011’s Bon Iver. Following an indefinite hiatus back in 2012, the band's return was surprisingly confirmed late last year.

They have kick-started their inaugural tour of Asia with a performance in Seoul, South Korea. The show was the first of a seven gig run and saw the band performing both old classics and some new tracks as well.

Vernon announced that the band was working on new material in an interview with Billboard, where he declared the band’s hiatus was coming to an end and that he had “been working on new music.”

Speaking about the strain the break had on him the singer stated, “the last few years have given me a lot of perspective. It’s been valuable. But I’d rather be busy, and I’d rather be engaged.”

Bon Iver’s only recent performances have come during a festival which was created by Vernon and the National’s Aaron Dessner. The Eaux Claires Festival in August last year was the last time the band performed together on the stage, before they embarked on their current tour of Asia.
