Last month, Justin Vernon’s beloved Bon Iver announced in no uncertain terms that they would be returning not just for a new tour, but that new music was on the horizon. Of their debut tour in Asia this and last month, Vernon said, “We’re not just gonna play the same set we did last year. I’ve been working on music.” The group made very good on that claim, performing new music.

In 2015, Bon Iver headlined the music festival, Eaux Claires, which is co-curated by Vernon himself and Aaron Dessner (of The National). In promotional materials for this year’s festival, an unreleased Bon Iver demo was included in a complication cassette tape.

Now the band has announced they will be participating in a series of shows at the Syndey Opera House’s Vivid LIVE. For four nights, May 27-30, Bon Iver will perform a show they are calling “Cercle.” According to the Sydney Opera House’s website, “Cercle” is “a Sydney-only appearance to open Vivid LIVE with CERCLE (French for “Circle”), a unique retrospective concert experience in-the-round.”

New Order & Esperanza Spalding will also be performing in later iterations of the Vivid Sydney Festival, alongside Bjork, Anohni, Oneohtrix Point Never and many more, as well as talks from Spike Jonze, Beau Willimon and Jenji Kohan among others - full details here.
