We’re only one full month into 2016, but Bloc Party is determined to make this year their own. They’ve already released a full-length album, have just visited Australia, are in the middle of a UK tour, and just announced a North American tour taking place immediately afterwards.
On February 2nd, Bloc Party confirmed they will be touring the US and Canada throughout May, in promotion of their latest album, HYMNS. The indie stalwarts will be playing a total of eighteen North American shows, including a handful of festival favorites such as South By Southwest, McDowell Mountain Music Festival, Shaky Knees, and Governors Ball.
You would think having just released a fifth studio album calls for a bit of time to simply revel in the excitement, but not according to Bloc Party! In fact, its premiere date, January 29th, was the very same day the band kicked off their UK tour in Cardiff.
Tickets for these recently announced dates go on sale this Friday, February 5th, but superfans can grab tickets early via an exclusive fan presale, kicking off today (Feb 3rd,) where the access password will be available via Bloc Party’s Twitter.
Their US circuit begins at SXSW on March 11th-19th, and ends with The Governor’s Ball Music Festival on June 3rd-5th. Additionall, The Vaccines will be in tow as support act from May 15 -May 23, followed by MS MR, taking up the role from May 25 - June 2.
But even then, their extensive touring doesn’t stop there! Bloc Party left off with a tweet hinting that there is much more to come in the upcoming year, and something particularly special for California fans:
