Arctic Monkeys bassist, Nick O'Malley, showed up for track day a with Reverend & the Makers' drummer, Ryan Jenkinson. The two are new to motorcycling but share an avid love for it nonetheless. They took some bikes around the track and managed to answer some questions in between. That was when Nick let slip the details of the Arctic Monkeys' 6th studio album. Fun fact: O'Malley was initially a temporary replacement for bassist Andy Nicholson who couldn't make the band's 2006 tour. O'Malley learnt the debut album in 2 days of essentially self-imposed house arrest.
Arctic Monkeys 2018
After taking their bikes around the track, Ryan explained that when they finished they were 'like a couple of kids in a sweet shop,' maybe that's why Nick was so open to revealing the details of his band's next album. Apparently recording began in September, at a secret location, and the album is due in 2018.
While we've got our eyes set on 2018, let's not forget about 2017...
"Brianstorm"
Brian has been chosen as the next name to represent a big storm located in the UK, i.e. Brianstorm. Now before you say 'Indie Shuffle, I came here for the music' just hold up a minute and think back to 2007, when Arctic Monkeys released the single "Brianstorm." That's right, the lead single on their second studio album, Favourite Worst Nightmare, was, what fans are joking as, premonitory. Without going into too much detail about the storm, we can say this much: Indie Shuffle founder Jason Grishkoff's review of "Brianstorm" as being 'hectic & full of energy' is apt in describing the storm too.
