Arcade Fire’s Win Butler, R&B star Miguel, jazz legend Kamasi Washington and more appeared at a “one-time-only live collaborative concert” over the weekend in Florida.
The all-star PoWoW! at the inaugural Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival, saw an impressive array of artists all gather together to perform under the stars. The band was filled out with John Oates from Hall and Oates fame, Washington on saxophone, along with the rhythm section from The Meters and DJ Chris Karns.
The aim of the festival was to, “focus on epic reinterpretations of beloved classic songs woven together with modern music by this incredible live band for a raging dance party,” according to its press release.
The all-star band performed their version of Drake’s mega hit "Hotline Bling", along with a huge collection of other covers including the late David Bowie’s hit "Fame", and Rolling Stone’s "Sympathy for the Devil."
They were also joined during the encore by Mumford and Sons' Marcus Mumford as they expanded their all-star billing even further. Before the final song of the night; Earth,Wind and Fire’s “Let’s Groove” brought proceedings to a fitting finale.
