This year's KROQ Weenie Roast concert includes Panic! at the Disco, Cold War Kids, Weezer, Empire of the Sun, and Red Hot Chili Peppers among others. That was the plan, at least, until RHCP had to cancel their Saturday performance due to a gastro-emergency: frontman Anthony Kiedis was reported to have had experienced extreme stomach pain, as reported in Billboard.
Drummer Chad Smith tweeted this not long after:
NO one's more disappointed than us that we couldn't perform tonight. Sending love and a speedy recovery to my brother Anthony.
After Kiedis had been safely whisked away to the hospital, co-members Flea, Smith, and Josh Klinghoffer attended to the confused fans and explained what happened. Flea announced the cause of delay and delivered this statement:
"We live to rock, we live to fucking dig deep into the depths of our hearts and rock, but unfortunately there's a medical thing that happened and we needed to deal with it, so we're unable tonight," Flea told the crowd. "We will play for you very soon, we will play for you like the feral animals that we are, and we're so sorry."
RHCP is expected to appear in Burbank, California on May 17. No recent updates have been made in light of this most recent event.
