Animal Collective fans have long been waiting for the debut solo album from founding member Deakin, aka Josh Dibb. Many have lost hope or given up, considering he's reportedly been working on it since 2010. Now, however, it looks as though the day may finally be on the horizon.

Pete Kember, a producer for Deakin's bandmate Panda Bear (Noah Lennox) took to forum Collected Animals to update fans on the project.

"I dont think Deakins lp is ready yet …..
He has a really sick set of songs though ……some stunning stuff ….
Reminded me of Nirvana , soft cell , 13th floor elevators & skip spence ( one if Noah’s faves)
All recording is done & i think he has a bit of mixing to do , but i know he has it all on
the boil & ready to finally give out …..a book too i believe ….
Looks like a full year …"

As Diffuser point out, Dibb's journey toward a solo album didn't start so well. In 2009, he set up a Kickstarter page to raise money to record an album, write a book, and perform at a festival in Mali. However, after raising $26 000 he didn't deliver on any of the rewards that contributors paid for, and later had to publicly apologize via Pitchfork.

After a three year break, Deakin rejoined Animal Collective in 2011. However, he is the only founding member of the band who will not be on their upcoming tenth album, Painting With, out February 19.
