As we tread full throttle through the millennial generation, memories of our beloved 90’s music scene inevitably grows fainter and fainter. There’s no shame in admitting you’ve long retired your mix tapes and denim overalls; but to the US diehards still holding on strong, you’re about to get your moment: nineties hip-hop and r&b stars are banding together for an “I Love the ‘90s” US Tour.
The reunion will be headlined by Salt-N-Pepa and Vanilla Ice, while the full lineup includes: Kid ‘n Play, Tone Loc, Coolio, All 4 One, Rob Base, Young MC. Kicking off mid-April in Greenwhich, South Carolina, the tour will be making 29 stops throughout the Spring and Summer months and bring performances solely dedicated to classic nineties favorites.
A few of these ‘90s-themed gigs have technically already taken place earlier this season, since the string of shows were never intended to be a nationwide tour. It was due to apparent popular demand that sparked this inaugural “I Love the ‘90s” circuit.
So what would one expect from a show? Cheryl “Salt” James of Salt-N-Pepa summarized the experience to USA Today: "It feels like you're taking people back to a time in their lives that they really enjoyed. It's just one big '90s party".
