Why do we like this?
When does a remix become an original piece of work? If you ask Sam Cooper (aka New Mantra) he'll tell you that this song -- titled "Apex" -- falls into the "original" category. And given the context, I can't quite blame him.
"Apex" was written as an original work, free of vocals or intent to include them. But with finished product in hand, New Mantra felt something was missing, and in this case it turns out it was Lana Del Rey.
Adding the vocals from "Born To Die" quickly transformed the track into what I'd term a remix -- and a fantastic one at that. Let me be clear: New Mantra has done an excellent job on the instrumentation here. Lana Del Rey's vocals simply rounded out the work of art.
