Why do we like this?
Not too long ago, I reviewed a Futurecop! track called "Schizoid Man." The track featured some inspired vocals from Dean Canty and Adam Sullivan. Together, they make up New Arcades.
The duo from London is starting to really take off on their own, with a brand new EP, Scenes, set to be released on We Are The Future Records. With an obsession for the 80s and the synthesizers to match, New Arcades are here to remind us just how much fun the decade was. They're bringing us back one track at a time.
The first single off of Scenes is a bass-heavy, upbeat trip ready to be recorded to cassette tape. The song has just a tinge of British sadness as well as some guest vocals from Chloe Pamplin, which reminds us of all those great 80s flicks we grew up with. I feel like this could run over the credits of just about any John Hughes movie and successfully sum up the main character's feelings at the end. Plus, the track has a catchy beat and a synth line that I could just imagine myself jamming to with a keytar in my hands.
You'll be able to download Scenes on February 28, but to hold you over, New Arcades thought they'd give you a free download of "Don't Let Go" that you can score right here. Air keytar solo not included.
