They’re called Classixx for a reason. Aside from the fact that Tyler Blake and Michael David have a strong affinity for timeless music, you can hear the plethora of iconic influences in their sound.
From their funky basslines to their disco charged synths, the LA duo never fail to provide listeners with smooth tracks with a modern feel. They are able to be innovative while still maintaining their old school meets new school vibe.
This track places them on a different trajectory. Instead of paying homage to classic artists that inspired them, they opt for musical contemporary Natalie Prass. The duo reimagines the singer/songwriter's “Bird of Prey." Featuring vocals from the elusive Joe Keefe, the lyrics chronicle the narrator's reluctant decision to let go of an enticing but toxic lover.
This is a perfect track to blast in your car on the freeway on a warm night; hopefully with open windows and empty roads. It induces that kind of blissful introversion.
