Natalie McCool's original track "Wind Blows Harder" has been transformed into a nearly unrecognizable dance track by Thumpers, and the results are really cool.
This song is intriguing in that although there's not much going on structurally, and the original vocals are almost impossible to identify, each layer is captivating. The track is impressive enough to be seriously wicked.
There's a really interesting mesh of genres here -- the huge beats and backing rhythms are scrunched up and industrial, while the vocals emulate some kind of '0s synth-rock anthem with big echoes and swooping melodies. In between all that, you've got the choir chorus and some lovely drum flicks here and there, delicately embellishing the heavy rhythm.
I can certainly see why this has been labelled a rework as opposed to a remix. Thumpers have taken a gorgeous track and made it something completely their own.
