This Friday sees the release of The Land, an urban tale of four youths who get into trouble with the local crime boss. What makes this film stand out is the those associate with it.
New York rap legend Nas was involved in the production and helped curate the soundtrack, and Erykah Badu has a small role in the film. As well as being involved in the that aspect of the film, the two have teamed up for the emotional single, "This Bitter Land," taken from the films soundtrack.
The haunting track features Badu supplying a hopeful hook over a string production, with Nas dropping bars about life in the projects.
It's quite a harrowing track, with Nas' rhymes very relevant to the situation facing many black American's today as they try to survive in the face of poverty and police brutality.
With Nas set to release his 11th album sometime this year, hopefully this is a great insight into what we can expect from one of the greatest in the game.
