Why do we like this?
It's been a busy 12 months for Sydney duo Nantes. Aside from releasing two EPs, they've run up a string of support (Does It Offend You Yeah?, Manchester Orchestra) and headline shows. If that wasn't enough, they've also announced news of a debut album, due out early next year.
The album's first single, "Drones," was released earlier this month, and it ticks all the boxes once again. Their music is an interesting contradiction, combining heavy bass and booming vocals with twinkling synth and keys. This is one of their lighter tracks to date "“ especially when compared with their previous single "Unsatisfy". I'd almost describe it as intricate in sections, while the "sing-a-long" section is becoming an enjoyable trademark of the band.
This track is just another reason to give Nantes a good listen, especially given the promise of new material shortly.
