Why do we like this?
Seasoned hip-hop heads will recognize Mystic. The Bay Area emcee came of age during the indie rap boom of the late 90's and even had brushes with the mainstream with her debut album Cuts For Luck and Scars For Freedom.
That was in 2001 though, and it's taken Mystic some time to craft her follow-up, Beautiful Resistance. Released through War Media, the same outfit responsible for recent output by Pharaohe Monch, Mystic's message is no less powerful today.
"Beautiful Resistance" is the title track of the project. Hauntingly soulful, the song sounds like a midnight confessional. Powerful music with a purpose, don't sleep!
