I love a track that starts with booming tribal drums. I also love a track with a weird story behind it. "Authenticity" has both.
The story goes that the mysterious three-piece band anonymously sent a demo to record label Felte. The accompanying photo showed their "faces covered, like some sort of futuristic druids."
Deep drums, hypnotically repetitive vocals, crunchy industrial guitar feedback. I'm hooked.
Haunting vocal loops and native hums work together, creeping up to create a strange, strange grumbling soundscape. As the track progresses, little high-pitched flickers and trickles decorate the piece, still led almost entirely by that big beat and vocals.
This is, quite simply, a really cool track.
Mysteries' debut album New Age Music Is Here comes out on October 27.
