This marks a first. While I can appreciate songs that fall more in line with the genre house, I've never been drawn to them enough to write about any of them. That was until I encountered Murge and Sierra Lundy's "Alone Together".
Perhaps it's due to this concept of being alone together and how relatable that is. I watched Brain Games a while back and was taken by their explanation of the brain: 'three pounds of tissue isolated from the world, inside your skull'. Alone, and yet we are all the same in this way — alone together.
Lundy's gorgeous and lush vocals take flight with the words 'we are alone together' as Canadian producer Murge weaves jazzy, liquid sounds to fill out the soundscape. This pairing has definitely made a fan out of me, as I let my isolated brain take in the sounds. I hope your brains enjoy it too.
