Why do we like this?
While the formula of a pitched down R&B sample has been pretty much used to death in electronic music, a new producer has come along to breathe new life into the idea, managing to make something very different out of a very familiar set of tools.
The man in question is grime producer Mssingno, who has just released his debut EP, simply named Mssingno EP on London label Goon Club All Stars.
A standout track is "Skeezers" -- three minutes of serious low-end action, with a cheeky Rihanna sample over the top. However, these vocals aren't just there for the sake of having vocals, they bring a whole new dimension to the track, and that's what really marks out Mssingno, and makes for an excellent EP.
