Sometimes music is so epic sounding that it is almost impossible to believe that there is only one person orchestrating all of its intricate parts. That is exactly what I thought the first time I gave a listen to "The Visitor" by Mountain Bird.
Mountain Bird is the project name for Swedish multi-instrumentalist Adam Öhman, and when I say multi-instrumentalist, I mean it in every sense of the word. From the sound of it, Öhman doesn't just play a lot of instruments, but has his way with just about anything musical he tries his hand at.
On his track "The Visitor" a delayed electric guitar riff sets the dark tone that settles over Öhman's raspy lyrics as somber piano and drums fills in the emptiness. With so many producers taking an electronic take on music, it is definitely a breath of fresh of air to have someone put together such an organic track with so many elements that helped to carry the post-punk bands like The Jesus and Mary Chain through the 80s and early 90s.
Rock and roll is definitely not dead, and Mountain Bird plans on keeping it that way.
