Why do we like this?
While Sweden might be known for giving us Ikea, H&M and Alexander Skarsgard, it's also home to one of the worlds greatest musical cultures. From classic pop acts ABBA and Ace Of Base to current hit makers Robyn and Pete, Bjorn and John, Sweden is responsible for some of my favourite bands, and Mountain Bird look destined to join that list.

Based in Stockholm, Mountain Bird is the new project from singer, songwriter and producer Adam Ohman. Together with various musical partners, Mountain Bird combine the atmospheric ambition of Sigur Ros with the post-rock introspection of Mogwai, which put bluntly, sounds awesome. I know, it's a big call, but after listening to their debut single, "Don't Mind," it should be clear to see why I'm putting such raps on these guys.

Ohman's altered vocals open the track over a delicate piano, before his yearning falsetto takes things into darker territory. As brooding synths, layered guitars and melodic percussion add to the pulsating rhythms, Ohman's reflective lyrics hit you square in the chest, painting a sprawling soundscape of haunting emotion and dreamy fantasies.

While it sounds cliched, "Don't Mind" is simply breathtaking. A beautiful, absorbing tune, I haven't stopped listening to since it arrived in my inbox last week. Hopefully you all feel the same.
