"Ms Fat Booty" is a modern twist on the old school sexist party jam. The story starts of as usual: meeting a beautiful women in the club, etc, etc. However, this is where the track differs -- it is this woman who then becomes Mos Def's master, rather than the other way round.
Sampling the rare Aretha Franklin track "One Step Ahead" to excellent effect and with the usual excellent wordplay from Mos Def -- or Yasiin as he is now known -- this song was recognized as one of the best hip-hop tracks of the golden 90s, coming right at the end on 1999's Black on Both Sides.
