Brisbane's Morning Harvey is quickly becoming one of my favorite Australian indie bands, so I'm really glad to share their new track here today. "Smith Street Swap Meet" is a blissful offering of indie pop, blushing with post-punk nostalgia and embellished by psychedelic vocal delays.
They've got a sound that I repeatedly fall in love with -- and I've been told it's even better live. First and foremost, I love that they're releasing music that's really quite different to the other indie, psych or rock-infused bands coming out of Brisbane. Secondly, and very simply, it's really, really good.
Something of a Brisbane supergroup, the five-piece includes members of Orphans Orphans, The Furrs, Moses Gunn Collective, and The Belligerents. Bringing their sparkling talents to Morning Harvey, the resulting sound of refined and hypnotic.
"Smith Street Swap Meet" is the first track off a forthcoming five-track EP, due out in May.
