Why do we like this?
Listening to More Amor is like getting in a time machine. All of the sudden, you're 16 again, driving along PCH on a summer afternoon with your car full of friends. Sunglasses, bottles of diet coke, and sweet tarts litter your seats. You're talking about something shallow yet fun, like whether or not your surfer boyfriends really get high before they get in the water, and the moment seems to last forever.
Yeah, More Amor is kind of like that. Sugary, sweet pop that is cute as hell without being superficial and insincere. This Los Angeles-based duo (Tom Oakes and Kyle Lobeck) have recently released a free EP, Thanks?, that chronicles "self-conscious tales of coasting through life with reckless abandon, guilt-ridden drunken hookups, and the the fleeting nature youth."
I think that More Amor has a lot of potential to do something a little deeper and more mature with their sound, but they're starting off pretty strong. Get the EP here and be prepared to relive your teenage years.
