I'm pretty sure Mononoke can do no wrong in my eyes. Having followed her journey from the very beginning, we once again find the mysterious songstress in a desolate, but beautifully enchanting position on her latest release.
Hauntingly melodic, third single "Barefoot and Broken" is a slow, fragile ballad built on a mountain of pain and heartfelt emotion. Channeling this hurt, Mononoke casts a spell on the listener with her sweet and endearing voice, that wildly asks "Would you follow me, barefoot and broken, the salt from the sea in my eyes?"
Although just a piano ballad at heart, the song's wholesome production and electronic persuasion intertwine magically with her vocals, to turn this song into something so much more than a dream.
