This is one snappy pop track from L.A.'s Monogem -- catchy and simple, yet totally effective. From the 80s beats to the clean, bright vocals, it's the kind of track that almost falls under the "guilty pleasure" category, but manages to lie just ahead of it.
There's no denying that we're experiencing a revival of early disco and pop sounds. But while "The Glow" clearly has its roots in 80s and 90s pop, there's a lot more to it than pure nostalgia.
I particularly like the harmonies throughout the vocals, and the colorful but relatively sparse licks and loops that fill the background landscape. The wide variety of percussive sounds add a really interesting rhythmic element to what might otherwise be a fairly simple tune.
Topped off with a wailing, synthy guitar solo, this is an enjoyable, memorable and unique synth-pop track.
